Program Topics

US Election Impact on Financial Markets - After three years of the Obama administration, the nation is growing uneasy over the lack of economic and employment growth the country. The near collapse of the US government over raising the debt ceiling has raised the stakes for the way forward for both parties. What will the Republican nominee propose and how will he appeal to the crucial independent voter. What would another four years of an Obama administration mean for the markets given the recent populist rhetoric towards US business and Wall Street? As he does every Friday on CNBC’s Money in Motion, BMO’s Global Public Policy Strategist Andrew Busch will walk you through what policies will be pro-growth, pro-jobs and pro-markets.

European Financial Crisis: Austerity vs. Growth Path? - In 2011, Europe almost brought the world to brink of a global depression with a financial crisis that brought down governments, crushed financial institutions and froze international funding markets. Will 2012 be the same? Will Greece default, devalue and leave the Euro zone? How will Italian and Spanish politicians stay true to reform when their economies are sinking and protestors are in the streets? Will the IMF or European Central Bank remain committed to loans to Europe? Global Currency and Public Policy Strategist Andrew Busch will passionately explain in detail what to look for and how to profit from the turmoil Europe. Like he does on CNBC, Busch brings a direct, no punches pulled delivery that leaves audiences engaged, excited and wishing for more time for questions.

China: The Prosperity Paradox - At the end of 2011, the world’s third largest economy shrank to the lowest level since the 2008 financial crisis. China is crucial for global growth and is a major destination for US exports. How will Chinese authorities react to slow growth when they are currently getting the slower inflation that they want? China’s progress on economic growth has been relentless, but cracks are showing as protests rise over government land grabs, pollution and official corruption draw crowds. Can China navigate the transition from an export oriented economy to a consumer led domestic dynamo? Andrew Busch takes his 30 years of analyzing global economies and markets to connect the dots with insight, energy and passion. Like he does on CNBC’ Money in Motion, Busch covers the globe to help audiences understand China and the link to the US economy.

Dodd-Frank and Obamacare - In 2012, regulation will take center stage in the United States as the key components for Dodd-Frank financial regulation and the Patient Privacy and Protection Act are ruled on and implemented. Will two critical rulings by the US Supreme Court make or break the new health care law? How will the CFTC decide on key definitions for financial institutions and corporations who want to hedge exposures in interest rates and commodities? Will the US 2012 elections move these key laws and regulations forward or will they be stifled by a new President and Congress? Veteran public policy and financial market expert Andrew Busch will survey the landscape for audiences and provide keen insight into potential outcomes and pitfalls. Busch has met and advised the last three US Treasury Secretaries including Tim Geithner and brings that knowledge and foresight to the table for your group.

Congress and Currency Wars: How US Fiscal and Monetary Policies Drive the Markets - Like never before, the actions of Congress, the Obama Administration and the Federal Reserve are driving values in the markets. What can we expect from the Federal Reserve in the face of fiscal policy tightening from Congress? When will the Federal Reserve begin to reverse their ultra-easy monetary policy and what levers will they pull to accomplish this? What is the strategy of the Obama administration for the country given that they have to deal with a split Congress and angry Tea Party members? Global Currency and Public Policy Strategist Andrew Busch will passionately explain in detail what to look for and how to profit from the turmoil in Washington, D.C. Like he does on CNBC, Busch brings a direct, no punches pulled delivery that leaves audiences engaged, excited and wishing for more time for questions.
