As a director, producer, writer and educator, Spike Lee has revolutionized the role of black talent in cinema. Widely regarded as one of today’s premier American filmmakers, Lee is an innovator in the “do it yourself” school of independent film. Lee founded 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks based in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. He has also authored six books on the making of his films. Since 2002, Lee has been Artistic Director of the Graduate Film Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Maria Echaveste is an attorney and former U.S. presidential advisor to Bill Clinton and White House Deputy Chief of Staff under the second Clinton administration. She is one of the highest-ranking Latinas to have served in a presidential administration. Maria is a frequent guest on PBS' To the Contrary. From 1993 to 1997 Echaveste served as the administrator of the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor.

Dambisa Moyo is one of the most eloquent and informed thinkers about the geopolitics of emerging markets. Born and raised in Zambia, Southern Africa, Moyo was a global economist at Goldman Sachs, focusing on the debt capital markets and global macroeconomics. Previously she worked at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Moyo completed a Ph.D. in economics at Oxford University and holds a master’s from Harvard. Tom Ridge became the nation’s first secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on January 24, 2003. In 1982, he was the first enlisted Vietnam combat veteran elected to the U.S. House of Representatives Secretary. Ridge was then twice elected governor of Pennsylvania. Secretary Ridge's recently released his memoir, The Test of Our Times: America Under Siege...And How We Can Be Safe Again.

Muhammad Yunus established the Grameen Bank in 1983 to help millions of Bangladesh residents escape from poverty. Yunus, a Fulbright Scholar, earned a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1969.
