Bruce Jenner is arguably the greatest athlete in the world. He captivated audiences when he broke the world record by scoring 8,634 points in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, earning him a Gold medal and the title of “World’s Greatest Athlete.”  Jenner’s achievements made him a national hero, because he won back the Decathlon title from the Soviets during the Cold War.  His accomplishments merited him the coveted Wheaties cereal box for an unheard of seven years.

Originally from Mount Kisco, New York, Jenner earned a football scholarship to Graceland University in Iowa, but a knee injury forced him to stop playing football and switch to the decathlon.  L.D. Weldon, Graceland’s track coach, mentored the up-and-coming superstar and was the first to recognize Jenner’s potential.  He was the person who initially encouraged him to pursue the decathlon.

Jenner was the 1976 recipient of the James E. Sullivan award as the top amateur athlete in the United States.  The Associate Press also named him “Male Athlete of the Year” later that same year.  Bruce was also inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame in 1986, the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, the Connecticut Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 and the United States National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1980.

Outside of the decathlon world, Bruce has starred in TV movies “The Golden Moment: An Olympic Love Story” and “Grambling’s White Tiger.”  In the early 1980s Bruce had a regular guest-starring role on CHiPs as Officer Steve McLeish.  He also starred in the film, “Can’t Stop the Music.”  His huge television success began in late 2007 with the E! Network hit show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show follows Bruce, his wife Kris, his stepdaughters Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and stepson Robert, and his daughters Kendall and Kylie.  Bruce has undeniably become America’s favorite reality-TV Dad, and is the glue that holds the family together.  He always puts his family first, and audiences love him for his charm and kind demeanor.

Bruce is also a highly respected and much sought-after motivational speaker, especially within the corporate sector. In his life, Bruce chooses to find his inner champion, and wrote a book “Finding the Champion Within” to reflect his ventures. 

In the years following his athletic achievements, Bruce has been involved in a wide variety of projects and causes. He’s been a guest star on numerous primetime television programs, a commentator for NBC, ABC, and Fox sports, and host of his own health show.  He and his wife Kris have also produced multiple infomercials and videos.  Bruce is a supporter of many charitable organizations and serves on several advisory boards. Most recently, California’s Governor Schwarzennegger appointed him the Athletic Boxing Commissioner for the state of California. Currently, Bruce is an ambassador for Boehringer Ingelheim’s “DRIVE4COPD” campaign.  Bruce works to raise awareness for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, which is a serious lung disease. As part of the event, Bruce drove across the country to screen people to see if they are at risk, and educate audiences about the disease. 

Among his many achievements, Bruce is also an entrepreneur.  He is the founder of Bruce Jenner Aviation, which focuses on corporate aircraft sales. His hobbies include flying planes, racing cars in Grand Prix events and working on his golf game.
