Premier Expert on Workplace Culture, Employee Engagement
and the Emerging Generation

Eric Chester is a leading voice and a trusted source in the global dialogue on employee engagement and building a world-class workplace culture.

Emerging Workforce Expert

And he’s not some Johnny-Come-Lately to this important conversation. For almost twenty years, Eric’s been an in-the-trenches researcher who’s been studying, analyzing, speaking and writing about the emerging workforce and the dynamics of attracting, managing, motivating and retaining top talent.

Books

As one of the very first authors to spell out the radical differences of America’s 80+ million post-Generation X’ers in his 2002 bestseller, Employing Generation Why: Understanding, Managing, and Motivating Your New Workforce, companies and organizations discovered that Eric had “cracked the code” on the emerging generation and sought out Eric’s advice on how they could better connect with young employees.

Media

That parlayed his frequently appearing in the national spotlight with media appearances on Good Morning America, ABC News 20/20, Fox News, CNBC, etc. and being sourced as an emerging workforce expert in publications like Forbes, USA Today, and the Huffington Post.

Keynote Speaker

Eric quickly became one of North America’s most in-demand conference keynote speakers presenting at more than 60 meetings and conventions each year. That number increased when his follow-up book, Getting Them to Give a Damn: How to Get Your Front Line to Care About Your Bottom Line, was released in 2005.

Employability Skills

Hearing the outcry from America’s employers, Eric turned his attention to building a better workforce by creating a revolutionary new curriculum exclusively for teens and young adults to teach them the employability skills today’s employers demand. He wrote the breakthrough book for youth, Bring Your A Game to Work: The 7 Fundamental Values that will make Every Employer want to Hire You and Fight to Keep You!, and he founded The Center for Work Ethic Development. Chester’s Bring Your A Game curriculum has since been expanded to include soft skills employability training for college students, returning military veterans, and adults, and is now being taught in hundreds of schools, workforce centers, and community colleges and trade schools.

Work Ethic Development

In 2012, Chester released Reviving Work Ethic: A Leader’s Guide to Ending Entitlement and Restoring Pride in the Emerging Workforce — the first business book written on developing work ethic in over one hundred years. This acclaimed book set the standard for employers needing resources on inculcating critical core work ethic values in employees who should have learned these values at home or at school, but didn’t.

Leadership

His new book set to be released in 2015 titled On Fire at Work: How Legendary Leaders Ignite Passion in Their People without Burning Them Out will be THE definitive resource business leaders and managers on every level in every industry will turn to for highly applicable and very relevant ideas and strategies for developing a world class workplace culture that engages employees and improves performance and retention.

Hall of Fame Certified Speaking Professional

As a speaker, Eric Chester holds the prestigious CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) credential awarded by the National Speakers Association, its highest earned designation. He is a 2004 inductee into the CPAE (Council of Peers Award of Excellence) International Professional Speakers Hall of Fame, an honor shared by less than 5% of all professional speakers in the world.

On Fire at Work - How Great Leaders Ignite Passion in their People without Burning Them Out

After interviewing more than one hundred highly acclaimed C-level leaders across all industries, Eric has uncovered the four principles that are common when it comes to engaging today’s rapidly changing workforce. Through a highly entertaining multi-media presentation, you’ll see how great leaders create cultures that attract top talent, encourage innovation and collaborative thinking, and inculcate the desire to out-perform yesterday’s best. Based upon the groundbreaking research in his new book On Fire at Work, business leaders walk away with actionable ideas that are innovative, relevant, and applicable. Uplifting, inspiring, and content-rich, it’s impossible to experience “On Fire” without catching fire and igniting the passion for achieving excellence in those around you.

From Rookie to Superstar: Improving Your Business by Developing Your People from the Inside Out

Research proves that most business leaders are not satisfied with the performance, productivity, and the service they are getting from their emerging workforce. The problem is not so much a skills gap as it is a values gap, which is apparent when analyzing the core work ethic values a growing number of employees are bringing to the job. This is the cause--and the effect--of Eric Chester's compelling presentation based on his breakthrough leadership book, Reviving Work Ethic – A Leader’s Guide to Ending Entitlement and Restoring Pride in the Emerging Workforce. With his hilarious and unconventional style of delivery, Chester will help you build the seven essential work ethic values within your people to ensure their success, and the success and sustainability of your business.

Engaging the Disengaged (for Educators / Administration / Staff: How Educators Can End the Entitlement Mentality Among Students and Create an Environment of Achievement

Eric Chester is a former HS business teacher and football coach-turned motivational speaker. He spent 10 years speaking exclusively to students and was an invited presenter at more than 1000 schools in North America. However, for the past 12 years, Eric has been speaking to, and working with employers who are feeling the effects of an emerging workforce that is woefully prepared with the work ethic necessary to succeed. Developing work ethic in students is not optional; it is a responsibility—one that should be shared by every individual employed by a school district—whether in the classroom, the cafeteria, the administration office, or the school bus. The purpose of schools is to prepare students for success in the real world. Developing a healthy work ethic prepares young people to be better students while they are in school, but also prepares them to be better employees, better leaders, and better citizens. Eric Chester is the leading authority on developing work ethic in teens and young adults. His presentation will illustrate why the work ethic in America has declined, and he’ll provide solid, actionable ideas and tools for getting students to achieve at a higher level in school and off campus.

How to Get From Here to There... (College/Career Tech Students)… even if you haven’t yet figured out where ‘there’ is.

Eric Chester has spent his entire career in helping people figure out the transition of school-to-work-to-career. He’s a former business teacher and coach turned motivational speaker for millions of high school and college students. Over the past 12 years, he’s been the keynote speaker and consultant to more than 150 top companies and organizations that rely heavily on teens and young adults as their emerging workforce. He’s an author of five books and the co-author of eight others all written to help smooth the transition from school-to-work. His latest book – Reviving Work Ethic is the first book for business leaders written on work ethic since 1904. He'll share the secret of how to get where you really want to go, even if you don’t know where that is.
