Best-Selling Author; Contributing Correspondent, NBC's Today; Chair, UNICEF's Next Generation and Editor-at-Large, Southern Living Magazine

Jenna Hager is a contributing correspondent on NBC’s TODAY show and an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine.

Books

Jenna is the author of The New York Times bestseller Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, which she wrote after traveling to Latin America in 2006 as an intern with UNICEF. Ana’s Story is based on the life of a 17-year-old single mother with HIV, who struggles to shield her child from the life she had of abuse and neglect.  In addition to Ana’s Story, she also co-wrote Read All About It! with her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush. Hager and Mrs. Bush are currently working on a second children’s book, Our Great Big Backyard, which celebrates the Centennial of the National Park Service, and encourages children to go outside and explore America’s parks. It is set for release in May, 2016.

UNICEF

Hager remains involved with UNICEF and is currently the chair of its Next Generation initiative, which is dedicated to reducing childhood deaths around the world.

Hager holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin. Hager is the daughter of former U.S. President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. In 2008, she married Henry Hager. On April 13, 2013, she gave birth to daughter Margaret Laura “Mila.”

Making a Difference: How the Power of Compassion Changes Lives

Whether an action large or small, everyone has the ability to make a profound impact on the lives of others. A devoted humanitarian, Jenna Hager calls audiences to action and shows they too can make a difference. Hager demonstrates the many positive contributions that people can have to impact their families, schools and communities. As a UNICEF volunteer, inner-city school teacher and a TODAY correspondent who shows stories of everyday people doing terrific things, Hager has ample experiences seeing the very best in human nature. Hager’s message of compassion for supporting those in need inspires audiences to help the disadvantaged and take a more active role in their community.

Joint Presentation: Jenna Hagar & Barbara Pierce Bush

United in their humanitarian missions and the spirit of service—as well as through their close family bond—Barbara Pierce Bush and Jenna Hager have found a shared purpose in giving voice to the disadvantaged while bringing to light stories of hope. Coming from a unique vantage point as the only twins to grow up in the White House as both grandchildren and children, Barbara and Jenna were inspired to live lives of meaning from an early age. Stemming from their travels to impoverished areas in Africa and Latin America, they have now made it their life’s calling to address the most pressing health, education and economic inequality issues of our time. Whether through Barbara’s creation of Global Health Corps or Jenna’s position as a TODAY correspondent and UNICEF chair, both women help spread the message that ideas put to action are the best kind. With their special brand of infectious warmth and kind humor—evidenced in their delightful back and forth banter during their presentations—this dynamic pair will ignite an audience’s passion to serve and inspire future young leaders to give back in their schools, local communities or abroad.

Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope

In 2006, Jenna Hager traveled throughout Latin America as part of her work with UNICEF where she had an up-close view of children and teens living in poverty. As she listened to the stories of those struggling through severe hardship, she met a young woman named Ana. Ana was a 17-year-old single mother with HIV who suffered through years of abuse and neglect. Moved by Ana’s own courage, resilience and determination, Hager was inspired to write Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope. In a presentation based on her New York Times best-selling book, Hager puts a human face on the startling conditions that afflict millions of youth around the world. Hager shares Ana’s meaningful life story to motivate people to triumph over adversity and become involved in caring for and supporting those members of society that need help.
