Frank Vogl, resident in Washington DC, is an international economist, communications expert, and a leading anti-corruption activist. In this latter role, Frank is the co-founder of two of the world’s leading not-for-profit, non-partisan, anti-corruption organizations: Transparency International and The Partnership for Transparency Fund.

Journalist

Born in the U.K. and a graduate of the University of Leeds, U.K., Frank began his professional career as a journalist: first for the Reuters news-agency in London and in Brussels, then as the European Business Correspondent of The Times of London, based in Frankfurt, Germany and thereupon from 1974-1981 as the United States Economics Correspondent of The Times of London. In this role, based in Washington DC, Frank lectured extensively across the U.S. and contributed guest articles for leading publications, such as Newsweek, The Washington Post, The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.

Banker

In 1981, Frank was appointed chief spokesman and Director of Information & Public Affairs at the World Bank – the largest global economic development institution. He served in this post, traveling the world and lecturing extensively on economic issues, until 1990. Then, together with his wife Emily Vogl, he established Vogl Communciations Inc, a public relations firm specializing in finance and economics, which has advised many of the world’s financial services firms, including the Institute of International Finance – the association of the largest banks.

Books

Vogl is coauthor with financier James Sinclair of BOOM: Visions & Insights for Creating Wealth in the 21st Century. His latest book is Waging War on Corruption: Inside the Movement Fighting the Abuse of Power. In Waging War on Corruption, Frank shares a history filled with stories of heroes and victims of corruption. He chronicles the successful campaigns by enormously courageous civil society activists, journalists, and public prosecutors and explains the crucial challenges that now must be confronted.

Ethics Speaker

Frank is best known for his extensive lecturing and writing and leadership in the area of anti-corruption and business ethics. In these roles he travels extensively to work with anti-corruption organizations and to lecture.
